5 minutes and counting...

I just left j in his crib (awake), put his aquarium on (thanks grammy), set it to the sound of waves....and...now he's sleeping!!  So he's been in there 5 minutes, I'll take it!  He fell asleep on his own and is in his crib!  Woo hoo...  we'll see how long it lasts and if I can get him to do it tomorrow!

Father knows best

T tells me all the time that we should let j play by himself and to leave him alone when he's content.  I think in the back of my mind I've known that he's right but, there's always a part of me that kinda thinks that I'm neglecting him if I just leave him alone.  I can't believe I'm about to document this in writing but, I think he's right and I'm going to take the hint and give my baby j some play time on his own.  I'm not going to lie and say that he alone convinced me of it....that goes to the Today show and a group of mommies that I know...but, it doesn't matter how you get there, right?....as long as you get there...

Since we've moved into this new awesome big house, we've found that we tend to spend all of our time in two rooms (well 3 if you count the bathroom)...the kitchen and the master bedroom with visits into j's room.  I've recently made some effort to get us into the family room.  We'll see if it works.  I say this as I type in the master bedroom.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Early this morning j suprised us all by rolling over!  I randomly put him on his belly on the floor expecting him to lash out in hatred as he hates tummy time but, instead, he rolled over!  It was quite exciting.  I didn't quite believe my eyes so I put him back on his belly and he did it again!  T heard me getting excited so he came into the room and j showed us what he was made of just one more time.  Silly me decided to grab the camera and well, he hasn't done it since.  At least I had a witness so no one thinks I'm crazy.

Mommy moments...

Grammy and gramps came for a visit this weekend.  It was fun.  T and gramps were able to clean the stucco on the house.  I was napping with j.  I'll take the nap over the stucco but, luckily, they didn't because it looks great.  We also got schooled on the herb garden the previous owner planted...in the middle of the yard...why the middle of the yard?  Anyway, T got started with potting some of the plants and getting rid of the rest.  Quite impressed with all that he got done.  I, again, was napping with j.  I swear it's much needed napping!  The kid still isn't close to sleeping through the night!

I had two great mommy moments on Sunday.  T and g-parents took baby j so I got to sleep until 9.  When I came down and j saw me he was all smiles and I think actually leaned towards me for me to take him from grammy.  Later, while I was rocking him to sleep, I looked down and he smiled at me then went back to the business of falling asleep.  It's going to be a sad day for me when that kid doesn't want me to snuggle and hold him anymore.  Made the first weeks of his life of not knowing what the heck we were doing and me dealing with recovery and depression worth it.

America's Next Top Baby

On j's 3 month birthday, we had a photoshoot.  I got to try and be a big time photographer and j got to be the cutest baby ever.  Here's a link to my favorites...I'm not going to say how many pictures I took to get to these 12...

Nap Time?

It is a little long (4 min!) but I didn't want to shorten for the grandparents and figure everyone else can just shut it off when they've had enough....

My Soothing Chick Music

Who knew that when my dear friend Brooke made a cd 7 years ago it would be one of my son's favorites to listen to in the car.  I'll be honest, I labeled the cd "Brooke's psycho cd" because of the songs she chose for this particular compilation (and the reason why she chose the songs but that's only for her and me to know).  Anyway, J's at the age where he doesn't know how to put the pacifier back in his mouth so that can make some car rides...well...hell.  If the stars don't align right, that kid will get to wailing his MWAHHH wail.  It really does break your heart and don't think that we haven't pulled over to comfort him.  So now I've developed a technique of leaving right after he eats with a soothing cd on the cd player.  (The Jay Z intros will have to wait a little).  Seems to work so far but, I think my dear husband thinks it's just an excuse to force him to listen to Sarah Mclachlan.

July

We're getting more and more smiles that suddenly stop when I pull the camera out. 



J's talking more and more, too.  He still loves the morning and were glad when people stay the night and get to see just how happy he is when he wakes up.  Looks like he's going to be a morning person...the total opposite of his father.

He's found his hands which is fun to watch.  One morning he discovered his thumb but I think that was just a fluke...we'll see... He's got the head holding up mastered and now we've moved to the Bumbo to get some extra strength going on.  I swear he loves it...at first....then turns on me.  I figure he just needs to get used to it.



We got a membership to the zoo.  We've already been twice.  Once with Schoenings and once with dad.  We've gone on a couple of playdates with some local moms.  We're still in the beginning stages of the playdates...so far the pressure seems to be all on me as J chooses to sleep through the awkward intros...but, I'm sure it will get better...

Cuddlebug-Day 2

Day 2? Yeah right...Both sets of grandparents came and I'm still a sucker. He is sleeping on our bed at the moment...that may be a step in the right direction!
